Gather

Gather :handmade shoppe & Co.: (est 2013) is a retail gift shop  located in the historic Redman Building at 116 N. Walnut on the east side of the square in Bloomington. Gather is owned by shopkeep Talia Halliday and run by an awesome staff of artistic folx. We showcase emerging and independent handmade goods. We sell the independent work of more than 400 artists, crafters, and makers from the Midwest and beyond.

In 2024, Gather is pivoting and adding more options to our palette – with that we’ve added a zero-waste Refillery where we focus on getting rid of single-use plastics and promote the refilling of glass (or plastic) vessels for household and personal cleaning products.  We’re excited to see where this journey takes us, as our bath & body section has always been a popular stop at Gather, and now we’re just watching it grow leaps and bounds!

In addition, we’re opening our DIY Bar at Gather in late March 2024 where we’re focusing on providing self-led workshop like DIY Kits for folx to partake in anytime during our open hours.  Another reason to gather, at Gather – great for date nights of all kinds and gatherings of any level.

The work represented in the store ranges from handmade and handcrafted jewelry to bath and body, kids’ toys and clothing to woodworking, illustration, knitted and crocheted work and much much more. Also offered in the space are workshops and classes to help create and foster our artistic community as well as a gallery space to exhibit emerging as well as well known artists in the area. Each month we host public craft nights to bring our community together around the practice of making.

Gather is about creating a community around art and the process of art — supporting the makers that create, and illustrating that creation.
