makers & Moonlight

Inspired by the Michigan makers & creatives who put forth Craft-A-Way Camp and pushed to do more and continue to create community by the passing of our dear friend and fellow artist Marcy, we bring you Makers & Moonlight: a crafty weekend getaway.  We’re starting small, but we hope this will grow to become an annual crafty event to become closer as a community and better ourselves as makers.

Makers & Moonlight

Makers & Moonlight is an opportunity to have a nature-filled weekend filled with camaraderie and community and building friendships in a safe and inclusive, low-key FUN space.

The deets:

Friday, May 15th 2020 starting at 5:00pm
through Sunday, May 17th 2020 at 2:00pm

We will be staying in a large chalet in the woods near Brown County (in Columbus, IN), with 9 bedrooms, a hot tub, showers and bathrooms, a full kitchen, and a pond. While no one will need to share a bed, a few ‘campers’ will be put up on air mattresses in bedrooms with other campers.

Campers will be responsible for bringing their own food, snacks, & beverages for the weekend.  We also ask that everyone bring one prepared dish for our Family Dinner that will take place on Friday evening after arrival.

You will be permitted to bring your own alcoholic beverages, but keep in mind, this is not a party – we’re here to have a good time, not tear down the house. No children or pets are allowed.

Throughout the course of the weekend we will have at least 4 different crafty workshops scheduled (listed below) – all supplies are included in the cost of the weekend. We will also schedule out times for crafty talks (critique, show talk, shop talk, etc), outdoor hikes, and other crafty activities.

The cost: $300 per camper

This cost covers: two overnight stays, all workshops and supplies, other crafty supplies for open craft activities.  The amount of camaraderie and fun you’ll experience = $priceless.

We do have limited space available in our weekend getaway- so we are requiring everyone apply. We want to be sure to let in a variety of crafters and this is the best way we know how to do that.

Applications will be open from March 1 – March 31. Acceptances will be mailed out by April 6th. Money will be due by April 10th.

As we get closer to the date, you will receive a more detailed email giving you the address of our home for the weekend, house rules, a list of suggested items to bring along with you, and a loose schedule of the events for the weekend.

The Crafty Activities: – subject to change
